IPSY February 2020 Glam Bag Subscription Review

Updated: Mar 1, 2020

During January, I got a notification on Ipsy's site for a free gift in my February bag. Has anyone got this notification before? I wish I knew why so I can keep doing it! šŸ˜…šŸ¤£

But then I saw this when February's sneak peak came out... March is getting an extra item, too, apparently. Why? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø But I am definitely feeling the love šŸ’Ÿ

February's bag was a rose-tinted accessory šŸ˜ with a soft, velvet texture. The add-ons, as always, range from $3 to $18. This month there were a variety of options from brush sets to berry toned palettes, and of course more "bag swag" which I strongly considered since they had this cute lollipop one.

Overall, this month was a really good bag! The quilted design was really nice. In comparison to last month though, it didn't feel as luxe. It still has the cute IPSY label on the inside though, which I really liked in last month's bag! Make sure you follow me on Insta @love_batsy to watch my unboxings when IPSY and other products arrive. We did pay for this subscription and, as always, all opinions are honest and our own.

The Beauty Crop is cruelty free, paraben free, and vegan. This particular brush is great for loose and pressed powders.

We loved the combination of pink and blue. The brush fibers feel softer than they look, which was really nice. It's a pretty big brush, too, so it would work great with any powder that you're applying over a large area. M and D thought it could be used for blush or bronzer.

HALF CAKED Lip Fondant in Low Key, full size retails for $12-16, depending on where you look.

I have the shade Legit and completely love it, so I'm very excited to get this. All of the lip fondants have the creamiest texture. The Legit shade is a dusty, muted terracotta that pulls either pink or red, depending on your natural lip color, and dries matte.Ā It's vegan & certified cruelty-free.

We all absolutely loved the color. It was just the right shade of red that it looks good on pretty much everyone. While it was still wet, it was really easy to blend. And then after it dried, no smudging! M said she would consider buying it just because of that.

PURE BRAZILIAN Deep Conditioning Masque, retails for $8 for 2 oz and $32 for the 8 oz

D has tried their leave-in conditioner before (or some sort of mask, she wasn't sure) and was really impressed with the brand. The product absorbs so quickly, and you see the results almost immediately.

There are a few different ways to use this product. We recommend finding one that works for your hair and lifestyle. You can use it after shampooing and leave it in for 10 minutes before rinsing it out. Another suggestion was to apply it and tie up your hair before going to the gym šŸ‹ļøā€ā™‚ļø because the heat helps the ingredients absorb better.

Regardless of which method you use - one of the ones mentioned here or something else - the principle is to just help the ingredients get into your hair and scalp. Essential nutrients like keratin and acai strengthen the hair cuticle while balancing the pH, meaning long-term benefits in addition to immediate results.

THE SAEM Perfumed Hand Essence in Magnolia retails full sized for $4 and you can get it at CVS and from YesStyle

If you use Yesstyle, search for The Saem - Perfumed Hand Light Essence and use my code "LOVEBATSY" for a discount. Don't forget they usually have a free item of the day too!

This product comes in a few different scents. We really liked the magnolia one, though. It's just such a classic K-beauty scent.

The skin on our hands are usually thicker to deal with day-to-day work, but that means you need heavy-duty moisture-maintenance! This hand essence doesn't have as much water in it than typical lotions, which helps the essential oils absorb better. We didn't like the oily feeling it leaves on your hands. On the other hand āœ‹ if that's a dealbreaker for you, the product can still be applied to the back of your hand.

A few days after using this hand essence, my skin is still so much softer. In the winter, with colds and flus going around, we are - or should be - washing our hands often. Use this after washing to replace the oils that soap strips away.

which comes in a palette of 4 blushes and retails for $26.50

I absolutely love this palette!šŸ˜ It has three matte blushes and a glittery blush, which you can use individually or mix and match. We received the Bourbon shade, a deep rose blush. I was considering getting this as an add-on, but it sold out super quickly!

The color was really pigmented. During the winter, we get super pale and kind of look like zombies. The blush added some life to our skin with just a one dip of the brush.

We also really liked the texture of the blush. It didn't feel cakey or dry. It has a really natural look and feel to it.

The extra Item I got was Cela by Celine Tadrissi CrĆØme de la CrĆØme, which is paraben and cruelty free. It retails for $30 for 2.5 oz. Celine's tip for this is to take deep breaths while you it soaks in and practice mindful breathing.

It's meant to be a heavy-duty hydrating cream. The suggestions were to use it on places like elbows and knee-caps that don't often get love. After a few days, the elbow we put the cream on is significantly softer and smoother than the one we didn't treat.

D also has issues during the winter with the skin on her nose peeling. She put a little of the cream on her nose and immediately was super excited about how soft her nose felt. It definitely helped repair and strengthen the skin there, which sometimes takes the hardest hits from the blistering wind šŸ’ØšŸ¤§ not to mention abrasive facial tissues

Here are the swatches. The top one is the Half Caked Lip Fondant in Low Key and the bottom is the Autobalm blush in Bourbon.

This month's Ipsy we give 4 stars, not taking into account the extra item. The oiliness of the hand essence is the one thing we really didn't like, but otherwise, everything was kind of a home run. So, like 5 home runs if you count the extra item? I don't know much about sports, but that seems like a pretty good score.
